Tetrax - The Complete Balance System
Tetrax is a system designed to test balance and stability non-invasively and provide balance training for patients. The Tetrax system is the best way to accurately diagnose stability problems and pinpoint their source. The device is in use in rehabilitation and ENT clinics, sport medicine centers, and geriatric treatment centers around the world. With its user-friendliness and accurate, non-invasive testing, it has become an important focus of overall health for patients with a wide range of problems.
With up to 50% of senior citizens and 20-30% of all adults at risk of falling or dizziness, balance testing has also become an increasingly important standard test for adult patients, often used alongside bone strength testing with Sunlight Omnisense for comprehensive fracture risk testing for the patient.
Four Points of Reference for Informative Results
Tetrax is the only system available that measures balance at four different reference points, each yielding separate signals of pressure fluctuations. This enables the evaluation of sway patterns for each of the four foot parts and assessment of the interaction between them, obtaining new parameters of postural control in addition to traditional measures of stability. These balance parameters, which provide important diagnostic information for the physician and are used to calculate the fall risk index,
are not available on any other posturographic device. A wide range of clinical studies supports the use of the device.
An Invaluable Tool for the Clinician
The clinician can use Tetrax to identify the underlying problems that affect falling for the individual patient, as well as his functional capacity. Tetrax also has the ability to monitor the changes in an individual patient during the course of treatments in a quantitative and subjective way - providing a reliable way for the physician to follow up on treatment and tailor treatment programs to the individual patient.
Tetrax Balance Assessment
Diagnosing A Wide Range of Problems
Tetrax is used to diagnose and manage a wide range of problems, including:
- Risk of fall evaluation
- Vertigo and dizziness
- Whiplash injuries and their long-term effects
- Effects of fatigue and circadian changes on balance control
- Effects of drugs and intoxication on balance
- Evaluation of fitness
- Evaluation of balance disorders in children as related to mental development
Clinically Proven
A wide range of clinical studies have demonstrated the utility of the Tetrax device in all of the above categories. In addition, because of its friendliness and short testing time
(4 to 8 minutes) the Tetrax system has proven itself to be a posturographic method of choice for all types of patients, including the physically handicapped and children, as well as preschoolers and autistics.
The device is CE approved and FDA listed.

The Tetrax Fall Index
Risk of Falling
The Tetrax Fall Index parameter, which is calculated using data from the individual's balance measurement, presents a complete picture of his risk of falling from balance disorders. This index is calculated using general stability, synchronizations, and Fourier transformations, thus reflecting the different balance parameters that can cause falling. Fall index results fall risk into three categories - low, medium and high risk of falling. Based on the fall index results and individual needs and requirements of the patient, the physician can make decisions regarding exercise programs, nutrition education, the need for balance aids, and other assistance.
The Importance of Fall Risk Assessment
The serious consequences of osteoporotic fractures in the elderly has led physicians to search for both diagnostic solutions and interventions for these fractures. The Tetrax system, especially when combined with Sunlight Omnisense for bone strength assessment, provides the ideal way to test for falling risk non-invasively. It can be used safely and easily for fall risk monitoring, providing an additional level of follow-up for concerned physicians and patients.
Tetrax Biofeedback
A new biofeedback module is now available as part of the Tetrax balance assessment device - designed to help rehabilitation patients regain functioning and to help athletes improve their balance abilities. With balance serving as a key component in many activities, biofeedback balance training plays an important role in rehabilitation and sports training.
The Tetrax biofeedback system can help improve the functioning of patients, aiding them in developing skills that include plasticity, internal models for future actions, understanding their limits, and sensory input weighing.
The physiotherapist can plan exercises to help his patients meet these aims and improve their day-to-day functioning. With a choice of 11 different exercises and multiple levels for each exercise, he can build a schedule of exercises that will fit low-functioning patients or a schedule that will continue to challenge active subjects, including athletes.

Tetrax for Rehabilitation Patients
Tetrax Balance Assessment
Balance assessment has a important role in rehabilitation from many different types of injuries and problems. Balance assessment with Tetrax, carried out in about five minutes, is patient-friendly and non-threatening. Results can then be used to assess functionality previous to and following therapy, pinpoint areas that need extensive rehabilitation work, and track progress of rehabilitation therapy. Biofeedback Training
Balance training with Tetrax biofeedback exercises is the next step for rehabilitation patients measured with Tetrax balance assessment. The physician or physiotherapist can prescribe exercises based on the patient's individual needs, set a regular schedule of exercises, and track exercise results to follow the progress of the rehabilitation treatment.
Target Patients
Tetrax balance assessment and training are used for rehabilitation patients with the following problems:
- Orthopedic injuries
- Spinal cord injuries
- Back problems
- Neurological damage
- Vestibular problems
Tetrax for Sports Medicine
Sports medicine practitioners and coaches around the world use Tetrax balance assessment as a regular part of their athletes' schedules, using both the assessment and training modules as a tool to track and improve balance skills.
Comprehensive research studies using the device are underway in various European countries, in universities, government ministries, and sports clubs.
Balance Assessment
Balance assessment in used in assessing the progress of rehabilitation from sports injuries and in testing the effects of specific fields of sports on athletes' functioning. Other uses are help in measuring proprioceptive abilities and diagnosing injuries to joint structures. The device is also used to assess level of fatigue and to help determine the timing and frequency of training.
Balance Training
Balance training with Tetrax biofeedback exercises are designed at many different levels to help athletes improve their balance abilities. The "blind" and cognitive options in some exercises bring the training to yet another level, aiding the athlete in the development of his balance abilities, a key component in many sports activities. Each exercise provides results that can be compared to previous results, in order to to monitor changes and improvement.
